Beauty, Fashion & Self Love Blog

Confessions of a Beauty Blogger

January 25, 2014

I saw the “Confessions of a Beauty Blogger” tag on Hello October’s blog and thought it would be a fun one to do as it is different to my usual posts!

When did you start your blog?
I started blogging  in August of last year, 2013, I wanted to start a new hobby so one day I was reading some beauty blogs and decided to start up my own.

Have you had any past online presence before (other blog, YouTube)?

I  had a little go at YouTube videos but because I only have a NetBook I have serious issues with editing videos I film, so I hoping to get that issue resolved in the coming months.

Why did you start a blog?

I used to read other blogs and think ‘hey this seems pretty fun, I’m sure I can do that’. I wanted to show everyone what I know and love about make-up. And as I said above I wanted a new hobby. I didn’t always have an interest in make-up believe it or not. I was I completely anti make-up growing up, the thought of it just terrified me. But as I got older I started to get curious as I would see all my friends getting all dolled up for discos and the most I would wear was mascara!  I slowly but started to get into make-up and started experimenting more which led to where I am now. I started reading more and more beauty blogs which just gave me inspiration to start up mine!

What was your first post?
My first post was just an introductory post about myself. My first beauty related post was a review on L’Oreal Elvive Colour Protect Shampoo & Conditioner.

What has been your biggest challenge about blogging?

Trying to get my blog noticed by people due to there being so many other beauty blogs out there. I basically just post the link to my blog EVERYWHERE! haha

Where do you see your blog in one year?
That’s a hard question to answer as it’s hard to know what will happen in a year, but hopefully I will still be blogging and have a good audience by then.

What is the most rewarding thing to you about blogging?
The support I get from my friends, family and even people I don’t know. The fact that people actually take time to read what I write makes me really happy and it definitely makes blogging worthwhile. Also, when people ask me for advice on make-up or other beauty related things.

What is the most discouraging thing that happens to you?
So far nothing to date but I know that in the blogging world some people can take things too far and say hurtful things so you just have to keep your head help high and ignore the hate!

What’s your lasting inspiration or motivation?

I get a lot of ideas of what to blog about off of WeHeartIt and Pinterest! I’m forever on those sites. I also like to carry around a little note book with me too so that when I do get an idea I can write it down straight away and expand on it later. Other beauty bloggers give me tons of inspiration and seeing how far they have come gives me motivation to keep going!

Lockdown 3.0 has probably been my most reflective Lockdown 3.0 has probably been my most reflective so far. I’ve spent a lot of time focusing on what it is that I want to achieve in this coming year, I’ve upped my self care game which is often a struggle when my mental health takes a turn. I’ve spent hours just reading, something I’d never usually do.
✨
Taking the last three weeks since the start of the year to really get to know myself. And learning each day to love myself whilst improving myself 🥰
✨
I can’t wait to see where this year takes me. I’m so ready for new challenges, self love & happiness 💛
