Reflection On 2019 & My 2020 Goals

January 7, 2020

A happy new year & happy new decade!! Can you believe it’s 2020 already? It sounds so futuristic! I hope you all had a lovely holiday season and you’re all ready to smash the new year!

Reflection

Ah 2019, it’s wonderful to see the back of you!

Like many others, 2019 was pretty much a shit show for me. I spent a lot of the year unemployed, eating my feelings & battling depression. 2019 wasn’t a good year, there were some good memories but it mostly consisted of bad thoughts.

I didn’t start 2019 with a positive mindset, I pretty much set myself up for failure for most of the year. For those of you who have seen my YouTube video, I talk about being on anti-depressants to try to bring myself back to a happier mindset. While I do feel in a better place right now this wasn’t an easy journey. No one really talks about the side effects of taking those medications. But we’ll save that for another post.

However, this year is different. I’ve set monthly goals, yearly goals, I’ve got a job & I’m just mentally much happier entering 2020. I have a good feeling about this year.
This year I know what I want to achieve & I am eager to see success!

Goals

I don’t like to call them resolutions as I feel this adds unnecessary pressure to try & fulfill them. For me calling them goals motivates me more to try & achieve them. I’ve found that in previous years I would set goals for the year & by March I’d have forgotten them. This year I’ve created yearly goals which I’ve then broken down in monthly goals. This makes tackling the goals less daunting but also helps me keep on track & remember what my goals are.

I won’t be including my monthly goals as they will change each month, however, each monthly goal is based around helping me achieve my yearly goals! I’ve separated my goals in different categories such as social, home, personal.

Social
1. Reach 1500 followers on my new Instagram account – @louisecorbally_
2. Reach 100,000 blog views
3. Post on my blog weekly

Personal
1. Get back into the gym – 3 times per week
2. Reach my saving goal
3. Be more organized, this goal actually fits into all aspects.
4. Get my mental health on track – hopefully, lower my medication dosage
5. Read 10 books – I’m not a big reader at all so I’m going to be tracking my progress on the  Goodreads app.

Home
1. Purchase a new bed
2. Paint the kitchen

That’s mostly it aside from too personal to share goals! What are your goals for 2020? Let me know in the comments 🥰 x

Lockdown 3.0 has probably been my most reflective Lockdown 3.0 has probably been my most reflective so far. I’ve spent a lot of time focusing on what it is that I want to achieve in this coming year, I’ve upped my self care game which is often a struggle when my mental health takes a turn. I’ve spent hours just reading, something I’d never usually do.
✨
Taking the last three weeks since the start of the year to really get to know myself. And learning each day to love myself whilst improving myself 🥰
✨
I can’t wait to see where this year takes me. I’m so ready for new challenges, self love & happiness 💛
