I’ve been contemplating writing a post like this for a while now and I feel as though now is probably the best time. With everything going on in the world right now people are feeling the pressure to be as productive as possible or are feeling pressure to achieve the same fitness goals they see people posting on Instagram.
I want to say that it’s not what’s important right now. What’s important is making sure your mental health is ok. As the world goes through a pandemic, the last thing your mind needs right now is more stress. Stressing over making sure the house is immaculate. Stressing over working out for an hour each day & making something healthy to eat each meal. Stressing out over not getting enough work done, not reading enough, not baking every day like everyone seems to be doing right now.
It’s ok to just relax. Watch the shows you’ve been meaning to for ages. Play the games you never had time to play. Do what you need to do to make yourself feel happy. Take the time to take care of your wellbeing.
Times like this can feel lonely. Separated from family & friends – feeling like you’re alone. Now is the time to become comfortable with your own company. Learn to listen to what your body & mind needs. Just being there for yourself is what you need to be doing right now.
So please, when you see people on social media who appear to be living their best lives, remember, doing what they’re doing isn’t going to make you happy if it’s not something your passionate about. Take the time to find something that makes you happy, makes you want to get up every day to do, something that ignites a spark in you. Take the time to make yourself genuinely happy.
Because taking care of yourself is all that matters.
